Kestrel Financial administers regulated savings products for credit unions across Ireland and the UK. We are hiring a Backend Engineer, Payments to join the Engineering team.
The backend team owns the APIs, queues and scheduled jobs everything else relies on. The work is unglamorous in the best way: correct money movement, predictable latency, and data that still makes sense five years from now.
This is a hybrid role based in Dublin, with two or three days a week in the office. It is a six-month contract with a good chance of extension. The pay range for this role is €45–€58.50 per hour.

What you'll do
- Design, build and operate APIs used by the web app, the mobile app and partners.
- Model data carefully and write migrations that are safe to run on a busy database.
- Build idempotent background jobs and make retries boring.
- Instrument services so problems show up on a dashboard before they show up in support.
- Keep dependencies current and security patches applied.
- Document the contracts other teams build against.
